There We Sat and Also Wept
Fashion designer Aner Shevach (5777) and Itsik Ruham, a restaurateur and Beitar Jerusalem fan, met through the “Matchmaker” project to discuss the experience of supporting the club. During their conversations, Ruham spoke about moments of excitement and tears in the stands, and about the place Beitar Jerusalem occupies in his life.
“There We Sat and Wept” is a collection of fan garments and accessories that incorporates the image of the “Crying Tiger,” a hamsa, and a tearful eye. Through these motifs, Shevach translates the raw emotions of football fandom into the language of streetwear, examining the tension between the way Beitar Jerusalem is perceived by its supporters and the public images associated with it.
