Rabbi Akiva said: “This world is like a corridor before the World to Come.” But what about the carpet in the corridor? wonders designer Yishai Leissner.
The corridor becomes a patch of trimmed grass, a playing field. The work is a physical and conceptual deconstruction of the uniforms of M.K. Jerusalem, a football club that operates according to Jewish religious values, taking them apart and reassembling them. The team jersey is released from its conventional form and presented open and flattened, stripped of volume, while the shorts are reconfigured into a tube-like object in which inside and outside become one.
