PodiumHouse
Victory can seem to exist primarily as a promise, a fantasy, or within a broader framework of themes and imagery. “PodiumHouse” is an interpretive take on the famed winner’s podium featured in medal and trophy ceremonies, an object affiliated with accomplishment, high ranking and public recognition—as it undergoes transformation into a distorted and impractical artifact.
Through altered shape and proportions, this work probes the rift separating the aspiration to grace the winner’s podium from the possibility of never reaching it entirely. The podium itself, normally indicative of clear cut success and triumph, becomes an article that subverts and challenges the very notion of victory, as well as its expression within collective imagination.
