Mootash
The “Mootash” collection’s Blue Cape is an interpretive take on the tracksuit, an article of clothing that accompanies the body through effort in training and through triumphant ascension to the winner’s podium.
For this piece, the training jacket undergoes a transformation, from a practical piece of clothing into a grand ornamental article inspired by royalty—a symbol of prestige, glory and success, as opposed to the physical and emotional fatigue embodied in sportswear.
The cape reveals what is normally draped by triumphant imagery: effort, exhaustion and resilience. Not unlike a trophy, a medal or ceremonial uniforms, the cape also serves as a material symbol of accomplishment, of the kind that does not conceal the physical and emotional cost of achieving it. In the space between sports and kingship, this work addresses not only the moment of victory, but also the mechanisms that make it possible.
