Apirations

The object displayed in this work combines hand blown glass with a laser-cut iron frame, in reference to the ritual artifacts and liquid receptacles of antiquity. Throughout the blowing process, glass is entrapped within the iron structure, becoming an inseparable part of the vessel.
Comparable to chalices and ritual objects identified with prestige, value and immortalization, this work traverses the conceptual space between material delicacy and monumental presence. It investigates how objects continue to carry ideas of fame and power, even when seeming fragile, empty and vulnerable.
