In sports, drama is not limited to the playing field itself, but comes to life up in the stands as well. This work reexamines the crowd’s role – no longer passive spectators, but fully active participants. The stands are redefined here as the fans’ exclusive territory, where a parallel match unfolds: just as vibrant, diverse and intense as the action on the pitch. This architectural intervention offered for JDW attaches to the historic building’s facade, diverting attention to the crowd of visitors. By creating a bleacher inspired by the aesthetics of community sports and local neighborhood courts, “Back Row” initiates a visual dialogue with the physical site. It invites the public to linger in the space, creating an island of calm within the event’s epicenter—a place to eat, rest, or simply observe the surrounding affairs.
