Festive Opening at the Hansen House Courtyard and Throughout the Building

NAIL GAME takes one of the most recognizable symbols of local sports culture—the sunflower seed—and transfers it into the world of nail art. During the event, a realistic sunflower seed is painted onto one of the participant’s fingernails, while the process is broadcast live on a large screen.

The work draws a connection between eating sunflower seeds and nail-biting—two everyday actions often associated with moments of anticipation, tension, and concentration—as well as between fan culture and the worlds of beauty and fashion. In doing so, it transforms an intimate gesture into a shared public experience.

Clown X presents: “The Cheerleaders.” The official cheerleading squad of the Hansen House Sports Club will accompany the event through song, ceremony, and dance.

How does a design studio operate like a basketball team? And what happens when design helps people return to the field—and sometimes even to themselves?

In this talk, we’ll go behind the scenes of TOM and explore sports-related projects developed in collaboration with the people who use them. Through stories from the field, we’ll discuss design that responds to a changing reality, solutions born from real needs, and the power of design to help more people return to the game, the team, and the community.

Multidisciplinary artist Noa Klagsbald will present "GOAL", a project created in collaboration with the mixed football club Hapoel Bnei Lod, exploring the power of sport to bring people together even in times of conflict. In conversation with chief curator Sonja Olitsky, Klagsbald will discuss the project's development, her ongoing engagement with questions of gender, power, and collaboration, and the international journey of the work, which has been presented, among other venues, at the Cultural Olympiad in France and Bloomberg New Contemporaries. The event will also feature the premiere screening of a documentary film following the creation of the project.

Panel moderated by journalist and curator Itay Yaakov on fashion, football, and culture, featuring participants from “Matchmaker” and the magazine "Offside": fashion designer Aner Shevah (aner5777), the Jerusalemite restaurateur Itsik Ruham, and the photographer Shulamit Nadel.

A conversation with Rabbi Faikovsky, the rabbi of the football players of Beitar Jerusalem, who holds an unprecedented official role in the world of sports. The event will also feature a live video “Panel of Miracles.”

Daniel Grumer, type designer and lecturer at Bezalel Academy, is both a typography geek and a football fanatic. In this talk, he will reveal how typography is hidden in almost every aspect of the world of sports—in numbers, symbols, jerseys, stadium stands, and scoreboards.

Through stories and examples from Israel and around the world, Grumer will explore what typography and sports can learn from one another, and why the connection between them is far more natural than it may seem.

Roni Bahir’s film follows a training session of children and teenagers at a Greco-Roman wrestling club in the city of Lod.

The work examines the tensions between the graphic order of the space and the athletes training within it; between second-generation immigrants from the former Soviet Union and life on the margins of Israeli society; between the regulated violence of wrestling and the vulnerability of the young wrestlers; and between intergenerational models of masculinity.

But when you tell your daughter you have to stay on Mars, indefinitely, she goes into hiding, leaving a trail of alarming clues. With your dream and your family pulling you in opposite directions, which path will you choose?

From Yael Arad’s breakthrough at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics to Peter Paltchik’s Olympic medal in Paris 2024, this lecture examines the place of judo in Israeli culture and the ways in which the two have shaped one another. Moving between the judo mat and the public sphere, it explores how we imagine success, heroism, and victory.

The Ophir Award-winning documentary, which followed Hapoel Beit She’an’s struggle to avoid relegation during the 1994/95 season, has become one of the most iconic portraits of Israeli society.
